Life at St Magnus Nursing Unit
Daily Life at St Magnus Nursing?
Each resident’s day is structured around a personalised timetable of activities designed to support their independence, wellbeing and enjoyment of daily life. Residents are encouraged to maintain their own self-care routines, with support and supervision available whenever needed.
Our activity coordinators and occupational therapy staff facilitate a wide and varied programme including breakfast clubs, gardening groups, café mornings and a host of games and creative sessions, all tailored to individual interests and personal preferences.

Facilities at St Magnus Nursing Unit
St Magnus Nursing’s facilities are designed around the comfort, independence and quality of life of every resident. Across our four units, residents have access to relaxation areas, communal socialising spaces and beautifully maintained gardens that encourage outdoor activity and enjoyment throughout the year.
Our specialist dementia units feature dedicated spaces designed specifically around the needs of residents with complex cognitive presentations, combining a calm, homely atmosphere with the safety standards and environmental features that support confident, dignified daily living.

Group and 1:1 cookery sessions give residents the opportunity to prepare nutritious meals and explore new dishes. From preparing ingredients through to enjoying the finished result, cookery is a rewarding and purposeful activity that builds confidence and independence in the kitchen.

Hair washes, hand massages and haircuts from our visiting hairdressers will boost your sense of wellbeing.
Computer sessions
Helping you learn to use a computer or refine your skills. Our friendly tutors will take you step by step through the most useful programmes to build your confidence and give you pride in your new achievements.

Visiting entertainment
We also have visiting entertainment such as brass bands and a mobile animal farm, bringing joyful variety into life at St Magnus.
Therapies at St Magnus
At St Magnus Nursing we treat the whole person. Residents may be planting vegetable seeds with one of our occupational therapists, learning to express difficult emotions with our dramatherapist, working through stress with a psychologist or building communication skills with our speech and language therapist.
“My job is amazing! I’m helping patients improve their ability to perform activities of daily living. We explore meaningful therapeutic activities tailored to each individual, no matter how different their values and interests are. I’m making a difference every day.”
