St Martha’s Hospital Wards

We provide all our patients with encompassing, compassionate care. In the words of a St Martha’s social worker: “What I like most is being able to bring a smile to people’s faces!”

Our focus is particularly keen when you might be frailer in your general health. We know you are likely to have highly complex needs with your mental and perhaps your physical health.

At St Martha’s you will have the least restrictive care available while ensuring your safety in controlled and carefully managed surroundings. You will be assessed, cared for and treated by our friendly multidisciplinary team of experts from psychiatrists to drama therapists. As one family member said: “The staff are fantastic and so caring!”

Spacious Rooms

All bedrooms at St Martha’s are single occupancy with an en-suite bathroom, a relaxing armchair or two and plenty of cupboard space. Your room will be bright, light, spacious and can be personalised with your own bedding and pictures. You will have privacy and dignity, as well as the reassurance that you can keep your personal belongings safe.

The Outdoors

Life at St Martha’s means taking full advantage of our beautiful outdoor space. There is a large landscaped area, a forest walk, a shared garden for activities and visitors, and a visitors’ patio. Every ward has access to secure gardens and you’ll be able to meet our visiting therapeutic horse as well as our own St Martha’s guinea pigs.

Ensuring your Safety

Staffing levels and skill mix are planned, implemented and reviewed to keep you safe at all times. All residents have up-to-date risk assessments linked to their care plans. You will also have opportunities to enjoy as much independence as possible in a managed care environment, and to maintain contact with the community.

Exceptional Team

Our staff include consultant psychiatrics, social workers, mental health and general nurses, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, activities coordinators, psychologists and arts and drama therapists. Together they make up the multidisciplinary team helping you gain health and make progress. We’re like one big family!

Life at St Martha’s Hospital

We provide all our patients with specialist assessments, care, support and treatment delivered by skilled and qualified members of multidisciplinary care teams (MDTs). Depending on your need we offer a range of activities from Tai Chi to farmyard pet therapy. Where appropriate we also use specialist equipment such as Reubens dolls, aromatherapy and other sensory equipment.
