St Martha’s Hospital
St Martha’s Hospital is a locked mental health unit located in the New Forest for both women and men aged 55 an over with a diagnosed mental health condition. We are part of the St Magnus community who recently received a good rating from the CQC and we are looking to recruit team members who want to continue that ethos.
We are currently looking to recruit a Transport Assistant.
- Liaise with ward managers and management on a daily basis to ensure patients with outside appointments have the transport needed.
- Ensure section 17 leave forms are in date and correct.
- Ensure correct staff ratios (escort status has been adhered to) and are in place for patients trips.
- Ensure vehicles are in a clean and tidy state.
- Ensure vehicle keys are easily accessible when out of hours.
- Ensure vehicles are fuelled and in full working order.
- Ensure all vehicles are in a roadworthy condition.
- Conduct weekly checks of all fleet vehicles for any damage.
- Ensure all road traffic act laws are adhered to in relation to passengers wearing seat belts.
- Ensure that proper checks are done with ward nurses in charge prior to proceeding with escorting individual patients from their wards for transportation purposes.
- Maintain a transport requests system that is easy to understand and is accessible to all staff who book transport.
- Assist staff with escorting patients when in the community.
- Liaise with new staff to ensure they are covered on the company insurance policy.
- Complete weekly transport list for staff transport and make sure this documentation is ready for the staff transport driver.
- Deal with any issues relating to staff transport.
- Ensure that in transporting patients to other hospitals/clinics that all accompanying documentation is safely packaged and details are secured from view and confidentially of patients is protected.
- When a patient takes community leave ensure that only patient initials are on the outside of envelopes or packages for identity purposes.
- Make every effort possible to facilitate planned transport for patients where there has been a change in plan at very short notice.
- Ensure maps and Satnav are available and used when the need arises.
- Arrange annual service appointment’s and any repair appointment’s
- Conduct periodic driving licence checks for staff insured on company fleet policy.
- Complete incident forms as appropriate to events which may occur in the transporting of patients.
The successful candidate must have a full and clean driving licence (Car).
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Salary: £12.00 per hour
Contracted Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
